IIML sets up incubator for
entrepreneurs
Lucknow: The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow
(IIML) has set up a centre for innovation and incubation, called ICI2, to inculcate
entrepreneurial skills among its students and to help them to translate their dreams into
viable business propositions. A number of information technology (IT) companies and
venture capitalists (VCs), including Sun Microsystems, NIIT, Hughes Software Systems and
Raffles Software of Singapore have reportedly shown interest in the ICI2 project.
According to Dr Bharat Bhasker, professor of
information technology and systems at IIML and also the convenor of ICI2, the centre is
initially working on two ideas, one related to information technology and the other on
supply chain management. The projects are in an advanced stage of conceptualisation and
are likely to be incubated soon
Venture capitalists Sanjay Anandram (JumpStartUp
Ventures), Sanjay Guglani (VC Line), Anand Lunia (Brainvisa.com), Nitin Seth
(ActiveKarma.com), Gopal Swaminathan (Web Wevez) and Ernst & Young have expressed
their desire to help ICI2 grow for mutual gain.

Mr. GV Prasad is CEO of Dr.
Reddy's Labs
Mumbai: Mr. G V Prasad, has been appointed chief
executive officer (CEO) for Dr Reddys Laboratories. Mr. Prasad, who formerly served
as the managing director of Cheminor Drugs, has joined DRL as a part of restructuring
exercise initiated by DRL, after merging the company with Cheminor Drugs.
Under the restructuring plan, the managing director of DRL, Mr. Satish Reddy, will now
assume the role of chief operating officer (COO) in the new structure. Further, Mr. A
Venkateshwarlu, president, Dr Reddys Research Foundation has been inducted into the
board of DRL.
