Mr. Arun Bongirwar takes over
as new JNPT chairman
Mumbai: Mr. Arun Bongirwar
has taken over as the chairman of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) with effect from
January 29. Mr Bongirwar, who has relinquished charge as the chief secretary, Maharashtra
government had earlier held various positions such as principal chief secretary,
additional chief secretary to the chief minister, principal secretary (industries
department) and development commissioner, SEEPZ.
Mr Bongirwar takes over the post of JNPT
chairman, which fell vacant after the transfer of Mr M.P. Pinto, who took over as
secretary (shipping) in the Union ministry of surface transport.

Mr. Mohan Khanna steps down
from BNP Paribas Equities
Mumbai: Mr. Mohan Khanna, CEO of BNP Paribas Equities' has stepped down. Mr.
Khanna, who spent over two years with the subsidiary of BNP Paribas, was responsible for
BNP Paribas broking and investment banking operations in the country.
Prior to joining BNP Paribas, Mr. Khanna
was with UTI Securities as managing director. Mr Khanna's tenure saw the investment
banking division clinch a number of major mandates including the divestment of
government's stake in Hindustan Zinc, Mphasis BFL's private placement to raise $20-25
million, and Marubeni's fund raising programme for its Goa port.
Mr. Khanna's departure is however,
believed to be part of BNP's organisational revamp worldwide. BNP Paribas will continue
its investment banking and broking businesses in India.
This is the second resignation of a key
official in the investment banking sector in Mumbai. Recently, Mr. Vinod Sethi, chief
investment officer of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Investment Management India had put in
his papers.
