UTI sells
Rs 2,597cr equity in 1999-2000
Mumbai: Unit Trust of India,
countrys largest mutual fund, has emerged as a net seller of equity worth Rs 2,597
crore during the year ended June 30, 2000, according to its latest annual report released
on Wednesday.
UTIs Inter-scheme deals accounted for Rs 30,686 crore against total investible funds
of Rs 75,159 crore. Its primary market investments for the fiscal ended June 30, 2000 has
increased to Rs 614 crore from Rs 123 crore in 1998-99.
The annual report notes that secondary market purchases of debt stood at Rs 2,907 crore,
while fresh subscriptions to debt in the primary market increased to Rs 5,048 crore
compared with Rs 3,406 crore in 1998-99. Reserves and surplus of income schemes for the
year ended June 30, 2000 recorded an year-on-year increase of 99 per cent to Rs 4,250
crore. Net income of these schemes also recorded a 90 per cent year-on-year rise to Rs
6,786 crore.
