BSE Sensex gains 3.1 per cent over
the week
Mumbai: The Bombay Stock Exchange has
managed to hold on to its gains on the last day of settlement. Coupled with Fridays
gain the BSE Sensex has notched up a cumulative gain of 3.1 per cent over the week. The
BSE Sensex also gained over its previous trading day throughout the last week.
As far as Fridays trading is concerned, a look at the various indices indicates that
the gains were broad based. This is reflected in the BSE 100 index, which ended the day
with a gain of 1.41 per cent as compared to a lower 0.76 per cent gain in the narrower
sensex.
Sectorwise, consumer durables stocks witnessed buying activity on Friday. The indicative
BSE Consumer Durable Index moved up by 2.85 per cent. Gainers included, Whirlpool, Mirc,
Blue Star and Videocon.
Tech stocks also firmed up inspite of drop in tech-heavy NASDAQ on Wednesday. Infosys,
Satyam, Silverline and Wipro ended the day in the positive note.
Next week's trading on the Indian bourses is likely to be impacted by the changes to be
made by Morgan Stanley Capital International in its various Indices.
