BT finance
chief steps down
London: In the midst of a loud clamour for board room changes, Mr.
Robert Brace finance director of British Telecommunications, resigned from the company.
His resignation comes in the middle of a restructuring of its international business and
merger talks with AT&T. According to the company, the departure of Mr. Brace was
voluntary, and has nothing to do with the investor pressures being brought about on the
company.
He is to be replaced by Mr. Philip Hampton,
the finance director who has overseen the break-up of BG, the UK gas company - another
British privatised utility.
