Airbus
promotes Indian as vice-president
New Delhi: 36-year old, Mr.
Kiran Rao, the Bangalore-born aeronautical engineer, who has been president of Airbus
India since April 1996, has moved back to its headquarters in Toulouse, France to take
over as vice president of the aircraft manufacturer. He will be responsible for sales and
marketing in the sub-Saharan Africa and India regions.
Before the India assignment, he was
director of airline marketing for Airbus in North America. Before joining Airbus, he had
worked with British Aerospace which has since been renamed as BAe Systems.

Bank of Maharashtra gets new
CMD
Pune: Mr. Sukomal
Chandra Basu has been appointed as chairman and managing director of the Bank of
Maharashtra (BoM) for a period of five years. He earlier served as executive director with
BoM and had been officiating as chairman since May 29, 2000.
He thus fills in the vacancy created by
the passing away of former chairman Mr Madan Mohan Vaish.
Mr. Basu has indicated that he intends to
take the technology route to expansion and growth with an increased focus on corporate
business.
