P&G India gets new country manager in Gary Cofer
Mumbai: Mr. Gary Cofer, currently director (customer business development), has taken over as country manager of consumer major Procter & Gamble India, from current incumbent Mr. Helmut Meixner.

Mr. Cofer (37), who has spent the past ten years in various P&G operations in Asia in diverse markets such as Korea, Hong Kong, Japan and China, joined the company in the US in 1985 and has been with P&G India since January 1998. During this time, he led the implementation of P&G's new distribution system in the country and has been closely involved with Meixner in establishing the company's strategic design and direction.

Mr. Meixner, who has been with P&G for 27 years, retired from the company on July 5. He had taken over as country manager for India from Mr. David Thomas in 1997. During this assignment, he led the company to important changes including the introduction of several global P&G brands such as Whisper Ultra, Tide and Pantene Lively Clean. During the course of his career with the company, he has worked in various capacities, including international assignments at P&G’s international subsidiaries at Belgium, Latin America and Canada. Meixner’s assignments included overseeing the laundry business in Belgium, Canada and the health and beauty care business in Latin America.
