Sensex regains some bounce
Mumbai:
With a handful of high-priced telecom and media stocks entering the volatile orbit, the BSES sensex closed the day at 4,212.53, netting a smart gain of 105 points or 2.56 per cent over the last close. This close happened after a wild swing of over 483 points during intra-day trading. The S&P CNX Nifty opened at 1,281.30, hit a high of 1,311.70, only to end the day at 1,299.25, a gain of 16.45 points.

A surge in institutional buying, particularly from domestic funds, followed by hectic speculative buying, led to the sharp rebound in share values across-the-board. The flare-up in equities in mid-session is also said to have been triggered by renewed large scale purchases by a known bull operator. His purchases in market-moving scrips like Zee Telefilms, Satyam, Himachal Futuristic and Silverline Technologies, send the sensex into a tizzy.

Despite the recovery, the declining issues led the advancing ones by 707 to 603.
