Indian environmentalist wins global award
Washington: Noted Indian environmentalist, Anil Agarwal, has been declared the joint winner of the prestigious Global Environment Leadership Award for the year 2000. He wins this noted award jointly with Denis Hayes, known for his initiation of Earth Day in the early 1970s’.

The annual award recognises an individual, group or government for its efforts in bringing about the conservation of the environment and protecting it.
