Rangachary re-appointed IRDA chairman
New Delhi: In an attempt to maintain
continuity, the government has re-appointed Mr. N. Rangachary as the chairman of the newly
constituted Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) for a further period of
three years, until 2003.
This re-appointment has been welcomed by the industry at
large which feels that this will enable the speeding up of the opening of the insurance
sector.

Alliance Air gets new MD in Anil Goyal
Mumbai: Alliance Air, the wholly-owned subsidiary
of Indian Airlines which operates on the short haul routes and which was in the throes of
uncertainty, has finally got a new managing director.
Mr. Anil Goyal, currently director in charge of cargo
operations at Indian Airlines, has been appointed the new managing director of the
fledging airline. The slot of managing director was vacant since its last incumbent Mr. J
Rao ,retired in February this year.
The appointment of Mr Goyal as chief of Alliance Air,
which has a turnover of around Rs 500 crore, is crucial at this juncture since the
regional airline is going through a troubled phase with several routes which were with
Alliance have been reverted to Indian Airlines recently as a result of which the
profitability of the company has been affected.
