Narayana Murthy to take over as co-chairman of Indo-British partnership
New Delhi:
Infosys chairman and CEO, Mr. Narayana Murthy, will take over as the co-chairman of the Indo-British partnership from fellow industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla. The UK will be represented by Mr. David Jefferies, chairman of the UK-based National Grid Company.

The Indo-British partnership was set up in 1993 as a bi-lateral institutional arrangement by the then prime ministers -- Mr. P. V. Narasimha Rao and Mr. John Major. The partnership between India and UK sought to provide a concerted industry-led initiative to enhance trade and economic co-operation between the two countries. Although the partnership has been sectoral in its focus -- covering agro foods, manufacturing, mining, infrastructure, environment, education and training -- since it has been launched, it has helped bi-lateral trade between the two countries grow more than ten fold.
