Sensex plummets in light of sparring between coalition partners
Mumbai:
The stock markets reacted to the continued sparring between the coalition partners on the issue of removal of subsidies as prescribed by the new budget.

As the partners continued to pressurise the BJP government, the BSE Sensex dropped 344 points from the day's high to close at 5,511 points - a good 78 points lower that its previous close.

The NSE index dropped 36.4 points to close at 1,666.35, despite this being the first day of the new settlement week.

The advance-decline ration was in favour of declines for the second consecutive day. At the BSE in the forward, B1 and B2 groups, there were 32, 607 and 255 gainers as compared to 105, 687 and 561 losers. At the NSE, there were 849 gainers as compared to 1,396 losers.
