MAC passes away
Chennai: M.A. Chidambaram, a leading businessman of the south, and
chairman emeritus of the Rs 4,500-crore Spic, passed away on 19 January night. He was 81
and ailing for some time. MAC, as he was called in business circles, is survived by his
wife, Abhirami, son A.C. Muthiah, who is vice-chairman and president of Spic, and daughter
Seetha.Born into the renowned Chettinad royal
family as the third son of the late Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar, MAC was associated with
a number of educational, cultural and industrial associations. He was also actively
involved in the administration of the game of cricket in India.

Ravi Ramu quits KPMG,
joins infotech startup
Bangalore: Ravi Ramu, national industry
director (information, communication and entertainment practice), KPMG, has quit the
organisation. He is joining iVega Corporation, a software start-up, as chief finance
officer and director (finance). Mr Ramu is an experienced hand, especially in generally
accepted accounting principles of the US, and has worked closely with the infotech
industry in his previous assignment. He has also been with KPMG Holland and the accounting
majors international office.
