Dayal to be envoy to UK
New Delhi: Nareshwar Dayal, a career diplomat, is likely to be India's
next high commissioner in the UK. Mr Dayal is at present secretary (east) in the external
affairs ministry. He had earlier served as high commissioner in Sri Lanka.

Washington: International Monetary Fund chief Michel Camdessus is
resigning. Mr Camdessus, who held the post for almost 13 years, said he would like the
member-nations to find his successor without any bickering.
In the running for the post are Italy's treasury director
Mario Draghi, French banker Philippe Lagayette and Horst Koehler of Germany. Caio
Koch-Weser, German deputy finance minister and former top World Bank official, is also a
candidate for the post.
Sixty-six-year-old Mr Camdessus, a French national, had
assumed the office of IMF managing director in January 1986. He is into his third
five-year term.
