Dr Chidambaram to get Nayudamma award
New Delhi: Nuclear scientist and chairman of the Atomic Energy
Commission, Dr Rajagopala Chidambaram, has been selected for the Dr Y. Nayudamma Memorial
Award for 1999 for his outstanding contributions to Indian science. The award, instituted by the Dr Y. Nayudamma Memorial Trust, will
be presented to Dr Chidambaram by N. Ram, Editor, Frontline, Business Line
and Sportstar, at a function to be held at Tenali in Andhra Pradesh on 26
November.
D. Chidambaram will also deliver the 10th Nayudamma
memorial lecture on the theme "Patterns and priorities in Indian R&D".
Some of the previous winners of the award include Dr K.
Kasturi Rangan, Dr Verghese Kurien, Prof M.G.K. Menon, Dr M.S. Swaminathan and Dr R.A.
Mashelkar.
