Coca-Cola India chief being replaced
New Delhi: Coca-Cola India chief executive officer Donald W Short is
moving out. He is being replaced by Doug Jackson early next year. Mr Short is proceeding
to London to head the company's Middle East division.
This is part of a series of personnel changes proposed by
Coca-Cola. The company's head of operations, Steve Heath, is said to have resigned, and
head of bottling, Mike Beal, is being relocated along with head of finance Damindra Dias.
The head of marketing, Sanjeev Gupta, will be in charge of operations.

Lars Nygren is Tetra
Pak India chief
Pune: Lars Nygren is the new managing director of Tetra Pak India, the
100 per cent subsidiary of Tetra Pak International. Lila Poonawalla, the present
incumbent, will continue as chairman of the company.
Mr Nygren said the global company wanted an expatriate as
managing director so that in a globalising scenario, it can have an efficient network at
the international level.

'Desh' Deshpande to
enact another Cascade
Bangalore: 'Desh' Deshpande, the India-born and educated
Massachusetts-based entrepreneur, who sold his Cascade Communications to Ascend
Communications for $3.7 billion and set a record of sorts in Indian terms, is back on Wall
Street. This time he has founded another venture, Sycamore Networks, along with Daniel
Smith, his colleague in Cascade.
Sycamore is being listed on the Nasdaq. The company
initially offered 6.5 million shares at $18 to 20 a share. The offer quickly changed to
7.47 million shares at a price range of $35 to $37 per share, and then the price was
pegged at $38 a share.
Sycamore develops and markets optical networking software
and hardware. It is competing against Cisco, Lucent and Nortel.
Mr Deshpande holds a B.S. degree from the Indian Institute
of Technology, Chennai, a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of
New Brunswick in Canada, and a doctorate in data communications from Queens University in
Canada. He began his career with Codex, a Motorola subsidiary.

Birla Sun Life staff to be
seconded to MFS
Mumbai: Birla Sun Life Asset Management Company is seconding its key
staff in operations, marketing and investment to the MFS Investment Management
headquarters in Boston. MFS is one of the asset management arms of the Sun Life group of
Canada and is among the top 10 mutual funds in the US. MFS is 80 per cent owned by Sun
Life.
The officers identified are N.K. Sharma, chief business
development officer, Bharat Shah, chief investment officer, and Madhavan Menon, chief
operating and administration officer of Birla Sun Life Asset Management.
