Saran secretary of telecom services
department
New Delhi: P.S. Saran is the new secretary in the department of telecom
services, a new department created by the government to handle operations in the
communications ministry. Mr Saran has been member (services) of the Telecom Commission.
Earlier, the government had appointed Vinod Vaish, an IAS
officer, as secretary of the department, but this led to resentment among the Indian
Telecom Service officers, and Mr Saran was selected for the post.

Microsoft
hand in Sriven board
Hyderabad: Rao Remala, a Microsoft hand, is on the board of
Hyderabad-based Sriven Multi-Tech, a multimedia company. Mr Remala is a senior member of
Microsoft's think tank, and is involved with many of its software development programmes.
He is in charge of Microsoft's software development centre in Hyderabad.
Sriven Multi-Tech's chairman-cum-managing director V.
Venkata Subramanyam said Mr Remala will join the Sriven board in his individual capacity
and not as a Microsoft man.
