Woman officer to head Coffee
Board
Bangalore: The government is understood to be handing over the reins of
the Coffee Board to a woman. The Union commerce ministry has shortlisted three senior IAS
officers of the Karnataka cadre for the purpose. They are Lakshmi Venkatachalam, now
commissioner of Bangalore Development Authority and an officer of the 1978 IAS batch, Tara
Ajay Singh, secretary, transport, of the state government who is part of the 1975 IAS
batch, and Veena Sreeram Rao, now joint secretary, women and child development, government
of India, of the 1972 batch.The position of
chairman has fallen vacant since the present incumbent S.V. Ranganath has been moved as
principal secretary in the Karnataka state government.
