Robert Mundell wins Nobel prize
for economics
Stockholm: Robert A. Mundell of Columbia University in New York has won
the Nobel prize for economic sciences for his analysis of monetary and fiscal policy under
differing exchange rate regimes.
The Royal Swedish
Academy said the Canadian-born economist has established the foundation for the theory,
which dominates practical policy considerations of monetary and fiscal policy in open
economies. Mr Mundell has served in the research department of the International Monetary
Fund.

Kersi
Patel to head Deutsche Bank trade services
Mumbai: Deutsche Bank says Kersi Patel will be head of its trade services
for India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Mr Patel will be based in Mumbai. He was with the HSBC
group for 13 years and was head of its trade business in India. He has experience in trade
services and is responsible for the launch of several trade-related products for HSBC.

Chernin on
E*Trade board
London: Peter Chernin, chief operating officer of News Corporation, has
been appointed on the board of E*Trade, NewsCorp's internet wing, which sells financial
services over the internet..
Mr Chernin is one of the ablest executives of NewsCorp and
is seen as a successor to Rupert Murdoch. He is also president and chief executive of Fox
Entertainment, News Corp's films division. Fox Entertainment has appointed Christok
Cotsakos, chairman and chief executive officer of E*Trade on its board.
