Jet Airways CEO quits
New Delhi: Nikos Kardassis, chief executive
officer of Jet Airways, has resigned. Mr Kardassis has been with Jet Airways since its
inception in 1994 and has been instrumental in steering the airline into its present
status of a professional airline preferred by business travellers.
A Greek by origin and with airline experience with a number of
American carriers, he is said to be unhappy with Jet Airways' functioning, and was not in
agreement with the airline's chairman Naresh Goyal.
Jet Airways is in the midst of a major expansion plan and
is entwined in a fare war in the Delhi-Mumbai sector.
Saroj Dutta, executive director of the airline, has been
given officiating charge as the chief executive officer.

Murdoch names Chernin as
successor
Sydney: Rupert Murdoch, chairman and
chief executive of News Corp, has named Peter Chernin, his company's president and chief
operating officer, as his likely successor, at least for some time.
Mr Murdoch has told Newsweek magazine that his
three children, Lachlan, James and Elisabeth, who are working for News Corp, are not ready
to take his place. They have to prove themselves first, he said. He described Peter as
being very much senior to them.
Asked who would run his media and entertainment company,
Mr Murdoch said it will be a matter for the board. Mr Chernin would probably be the CEO,
and older son Lachlan the chairman.
Lachlan Murdoch is already on the board of News Corp.
