Air-India
considering purchase of Boeing 747-400
New Delhi: Air-India is considering adding
another large capacity Boeing 747-400 to its fleet. The airline has six 747-400 aircraft.
It had initially ordered four, with the option of taking five more. It purchased two

another option to take the total of 747-440 strength to seven.
The airline has been debating the feasibility of inducting
small capacity short range and small capacity long range aircraft for fleet renewal and
expansion. It is looking at the Airbus A-321 and Airbus A-320 and the new generation
Boeing 737-800 for the small capacity short range category.
