Markets are continuing the firm trend from the last few sessions today as well. Though the indices have come down from their opening highs, many frontline stocks are receiving buying support.

The Sensex opened at 10902 and saw a new lifetime high of 10951. The index is trading higher by 23 points at 10902 at 11.10 AM.

The Nifty opened at 3227 and saw a new lifetime intra-day high of 3249 in early trades. The index is trading higher by 10 points at 3237.

Aluminium stocks are among the best performers today with Hindalco leading the charge. The stock has gained close to 2.5 per cent while Nalco has gained over 2 per cent.

VSNL has added close to another 2 per cent as the stock continues it's up trend.

Gail has added close to 2 per cent while ONGC has added over a per cent.

TCS is the best performer among technology stocks, trading nearly 1.5 per cent higher. Infosys and Satyam are trading flat.

Suzlon Energy, which announced an overseas acquisition, is trading nearly 2 per cent higher.

Kotak Mahindra Bank has added another 0.5 per cent after yesterday's strong rally.

Glaxo, IPCL, Tata Chemiclas and Tata Tea are among the other major gainers.

Zee Tele is the biggest loser among index stocks, as the stock is facing some profit booking after yesterday's 15 per cent surge. The stock is trading over 2 per cent lower.

Gujarat Ambuja has also declined today after yesterday's gains following unconfirmed rumours of a hike in the open offer price by Holcim.

Oil marketing stocks HPCL and BPCL are under pressure, trading around a per cent each lower, on higher crude prices.

HDFC Bank, HLL, Dabur and HDFC are also among the losers.

Mid-caps are trading with modest gains today morning and the mid-cap index has gained close to a fifth of a per cent. The market breadth has declined and is marginally negative.

RNRL has recovered from a sharp decline in opening trades and is now trading with modest gains.

M&M Finance got listed on the exchanges today. Issued at Rs200 per share, the stock opened at Rs225 on the NSE and saw a high of Rs243.8. The stock is now trading at Rs240.

BL Kashyap & Sons is another new listing on the exchanges today. Issued at Rs685 per share, the stock opened at Rs800.50 on the NSE and saw a high of Rs1010. The stock is now trading at Rs956.5.

Visa Steel, the third new listing, has had a bad debut. Issued at Rs57 per share, the stock opened at Rs57 on the NSE and saw a low of Rs49.75. The stock is now trading at Rs53.6.

SKM Egg Products, TTK Prestige and Hindustan Sanitary are among the major gainers in mid-caps.

Visualsoft, Celebrity Fashions and Indo Tech Transformers are among the mid-cap losers.
