Market ends flat: NTPC, Sun Pharma top gainers

The
markets ended the day on a flat note after hovering around
its previous close for major part of the day. US lended
strong cues by closing higher yesterday but Asia ended
mixed with a positive bias. Selective buying was seen
in realty, IT, power and metal stocks. However, selling
pressure was seen in capital goods, auto and oil &
gas stocks. Broader markets outperformed the frontline
indices, BSE Midcap index is up 0.1% and smallcap index
is up 0.2%.
Top gainers on the indices are Sun Pharma, Suzlon Enegy, Tata Power, Zee Entertainment, NTPC, Cipla, HUL and Infosys.
Sensex was down 19.25 points or 0.12% at 15446.15, and the Nifty down 3.40 points or 0.08% at 4475.85.
About 1567 shares have advanced, 1379 shares declined, and 73 shares are unchanged.
The BSE Midcap Index ended at 6,773.34 up 7 points or 0.11%.
The BSE Smallcap Index ended at 8,289.81 up 19 points or 0.23%.
