Market: Indices

The markets closed in green amid volatile trades. It was trading flat till noon but slipped in deep red briefly. However, it saw smart recovery led by oil & gas, cement and steel stocks. The Asian cues were not positive. The broader markets have taken it on the chin and have underperformed the frontline indices.

BSE metal and oil & gas index ended in green, but others closed in red.

Sensex was up 47.54 points or 0.34% at 14130.95, and the Nifty up 9.60 points or 0.23% at 4155.2.

About 793 shares have advanced, 1660 shares declined, and 81 shares are unchanged.

DLF, India's largest real estate company, has been subscribed 1.17 times at higher end of the price band of Rs 550 per share. But real estae stocks ended weak, Unitech was down nearly 3.6% and Parsvnath was down 1.7%, Orbi Corp 5.6% followed by Mahindra Gesco, Indiabulls Real.

The BSE Small Cap Index closed at 7,228.88 down 1.24%.
