As Indian IT firms face setbacks in the US market, a new opportunity is opening up in China, which is keen to invite them to participate in the big data sector, The Times of India reported.
China's Guizhou province has invited NIIT chairman Rajendra Pawar to become a member of its own advisory committee for development of big data business with the help of international collaborations. NIIT, which has a strong presence in China's IT education segment, has opened its largest big data training facility in Guiyang, capital of China's Guizhou province.
"China has closely observed the phenomenon where the Indian IT sector has grown by adding huge value to developed countries. This is why they would like to collaborate with Indian companies in a big way," Pawar told TOI.
Chinese companies are now seeking collaboration with Indian firms in areas like analysing large blocks of data and putting them to wider use. They have also shown in interest in investing in Indian startups, Gagan Sabharwal, director of industry body Nasscom, which was leading a delegation, to China, said.
"All companies in our delegation are hopeful of landing business in China. They are ready to invest in local presence, and work with local agencies," Sabharwal said.
Chen Gang, the Communist Party secretary of Guiyang, said he has visited India twice, and developed a high respect for capabilities of Indian IT companies.
