In an alarming trend among teenagers, many of them share dangerous information online and access pornography over the web, while one in every four teens has been a victim of cruel online behaviour.

About 35 per cent of the surveyed teens willingly access pornography and nudity online and almost all of them have been active in social networks since the age of 13, according to a survey, 'Secret Lives of Teens', by anti-virus firm McAfee.

According to a survey of over 1,500 Indian parents and teens, there is an evident discrepancy between parental perception and actual reality regarding the online activities of Indian teens.

The survey also shows that while parental concerns prevail, teens do end up sharing more dangerous information online, contrary to the parents' belief.

One in every four teens has been a victim of cruel behaviour online and about 35 per cent of the teens willingly access online porn or nudity. About 70 per cent of the teenagers believe they shouldn't be sharing their home addresses online, but 40 per cent still share them online.

Correspondingly, only 21 per cent of the parents believe teens would have actually done so.
