The hacker group, Anonymous, which claimed it attacked US security firm Stratfor and stole thousands of credit card numbers has threatened to release 2.7 million of its confidential emails.
The loose-knit movement has vowed to further embarrass the intelligence company. (See: Hacker group Anonymous attacks US security think-tank Stratfor)
It intends to show the firm in a poor light by publishing the intelligence briefings Stratfor publishes on security and financial risk. The group said it could provide the smoking gun for a number of crimes.
Stratfor uses a global network of sources to create daily intelligence briefings on security and financial risks.
The hacker group posted the credit card numbers of 30,000 of Stratfor's clients. This included executives from HSBC and Barclays, as also a member of the UK House of Lords on Monday.
Anonymous said these were then used to donate $1 million to charity.
