Rohan Shravan and his Adam tablet PC have once again created a flutter, with the Android-based tablet which opened up for pre-orders earlier this month getting sold out within days. Notion Ink, Shravan's company displayed a `Sold out' sign on its homepage which has generated some amount of controversy.

The tablet was first unveiled at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) the world's largest consumer tech trade show in Las Vegas in January this year to enormous buzz with demonstration of an early prototype.

It has since then been seen as a possible challenger to the Apple iPad. The company, founded by six IITians and an MBA graduate, all aged between 23 and 25 years, was initially based in Hyderabad but shifted to Bangalore this year.

The tablet is said to be the world's first device to integrate two breakthrough power saving components -- nVidia's Tegra 2 chip and a Pixel Qi screen. According to experts the two components together would double battery life and boost performance of the iPad.

The Pixel Qi screen is said to be one of the reasons for the pre-order scramble, as it allows users to read the display in bright sunlight like an e-reader. According to the company with the backlight off, the battery life is increased between charges by a factor of five.

Many of the company's claims are not fully verified yet which is one of the reasons behind the controversy during pre-order. Adding to the company's woes is the fact that the pre-order process in itself saw several server crashes.
