World Wide Web Consortium to launch India office in May

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the international body that opening of its India office.

W3C will hold a conference during the launch to promote and accelerate participation from India in the W3C standards, a government press release said today.

W3C India Office has been established under the aegis of the `Technology Development for Indian Languages' programme.

The long-term goal of the programme is to enable all W3C standards with 22 Indian languages so that the country can achieve seamless web for every citizen. The W3C India office will work in tandem with all major national regulatory standards and industry associations like TRAI, BIS, NASSCOM, MAIT and others.

The technical sessions during the two-day conference would cover web architecture, web accessibility issues such as styling, mobile web, human machine interfaces, semantic web, etc.

W3C develops interoperable technologies for specifications, guidelines, software, and tools that would lead to the exploitation of the full potential of the World Wide Web.
