ASUS ties up with SatNav Technologies, to include SatGuide maps for its PDA phones news
19 March 2008

PDA phone manufacturer ASUS has announced a tie-up with SatNav Technologies to include SatGuide maps and software into ASUS Windows mobile phones.

The feature will only be available in the ASUS P750 and P527 models, both of which have in-built GPS receivers, and will now come preloaded with the One India integrated map from SatGuide. Users of these models can thus convert their phones into navigation devices as and when needed, and will also have the benefit of an 'out of the box' navigation experience, as the device will be navigation ready at the point of purchase.

The One India integrated map covers over 30 Indian cities, and is capable of providing turn by turn directions and voice instructions, in addition to detailed national and state highway network information, woven onto a single map with several thousand points of interest.

Detailed maps of all major metro cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad and Kolkata along with small cities like Jaipur, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kanpur, Nasik, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, and many others are offered in the database.

SatNav Technologies is a pioneer in map development in India, coming out with the first version of its maps in 2005. The company has spent nearly a decade on map research, and has brought an 85 per cent level of precision to their maps. The company updates its maps on a quarterly basis, and claims to have more than 95 per cent market share of the fledgling but growing GPS navigation market in India.

ASUS is a world leader in technology and is a solution provider of the '3C' segment, including computers, communications and consumer electronics. It has a global staff of over 100,000 and is a Fortune 500 company. ASUS Windows Phones have GPS devices, and come with a set of standard accessories such as car charger, and dashboard mount holder.
