Six Indian
cities have been identified as among the top 50 global ''emerging outsourcing and
IT services destinations'' by the Global Services Survey, conducted by Cyber Media
in association with investment advisory firm Tholons. The survey ranked the top
50 and profiled the 15 best global cities for outsourcing. The
survey reveals that outsourcers consider process maturity, availability of relevant
skills as well as costs in the city as their main reasons for deciding on location.
Tholons chairman
and CEO Avinash Vasishta foresees the tier II cities surging ahead in re-engineered
globalisation models, in view of the widening demand-supply gap. Five
of the six Indian cities are ranked among the top 15, as compared to three cities
in China and two in Vietnam. Coimbatore, in 21st position, is the sixth city to
figure in the list of top 50. The
survey has placed 19 Asian as well as 12 East and Central European cities among
the top 50 emerging BPO and IT services destinations worldwide. Cyber Media publisher
Pradeep Gupta said that these potential hubs could grab a huge chunk of the global
IT and BPO services pie in the next three years. The
study also ranked the top five obvious choices - Bangalore, New Delhi (national
capital region), Manila NCR, Mumbai and Dublin as prime outsourcing hubs that
have serviced the global corporate world for over a decade.
