New York: Google Inc. and Salesforce.com Inc. are discussing the possibility of an to compete with Microsoft Corp.

According to a report on the online edition of The Wall Street Journal, the two companies are still working out details of a potential partnership. If the two come to an greement on the alliance, the two could announce a deal within weeks, the paper reported.

One possible outcome could be a web-based offering that integrates some of Google''s online services such as email and instant-messaging with those of Salesforce.com, whose customer-relationship management tools help salespeople track their accounts.
