Roamware announces Rs50-crore commitment into India Development centres news

Mumbai: Roamware Inc, global provider of value-added voice and data roaming to over 100 mobile operators in 63 countries, today announced a 3-year planned commitment of over Rs.50 crore into its India development centre.

The development centre supports its world-wide engineering, R&D, global support, product management and marketing. Roamware plans to aggressively expand its development centre in India with this new investment by enhancing the infrastructure, equipment and lab facilities.

This expansion is in keeping with the targeted business growth for Roamware in the coming years. Roamware established its development facility in India three years ago in Powai, Mumbai; the faclity has 145 engineers working on the SS7 protocol.

The announcement coincides with the appointment of Mohan Gyani as the new CEO and chairman of Roamware Inc, who recently moved over from AT&T Wireless Mobility Services, where he was president and CEO.

According to Gyani, "The India Development center has grown substantially, it now accounts for 75-80 per cent of the world-wide headcount and significant part of our world-wide investments. Roamware strategy in India has been to pioneer value added roaming mobile services, and mobile operators, with the use of Roamware solutions will be in a position to increase their revenues by providing enhanced services to its customers."

In India, the California-based Roamware's customers include Hutch, BPL Mobile, Reliance, Idea Cellular, BSNL , MTNL, Rainbow and AirTel.

Built around the Roamware core telco-grade technology footprint, the Service Delivery System, Roamware's roaming and related solutions enable operators to unify critical subscriber and roamer information for the design and deployment of intelligent, personalised services.
