Hyderabad:
Internet search firm Google Inc is expanding operations in India and at present
is on a recruitment drive. Recently, the company moved into a bigger office
in Hyderabad to accommodate its expanding headcount. Google's
expansion plans include inducting more people into its engineering services
team based out of Bangalore and its AdWords team in Hyderabad, which offers
global support-cum-development work for its online advertisement-driven services.
Addressing
the media, George Reyes, chief financial officer of the company said, "Google
has emerged as the largest search engine globally hosting about 8-billion
documents, URLs and other content. We continue to acquire as much content
we can possibly and grow the size of the index," he said. He added that
the company would continue to invest in its two centres in India, but did
not reveal exact numbers. David
Fischer, director of AdWords, Google's division based in Hyderabad said, the
teams in India complements the company's operations in Mountain View and Dublin.
According
to him, "AdWords is Google's core product search service currently available
in 41 languages as against over 100 language-search interface. This offers
advertisers flexibility in providing performance-based ad themes. Though we
do not have region-wise break-up, India could offer great scope," he
said Roy
Gilbert, head of sales and operations, said Google employs more than 2,500
people globally and that the Hyderabad centre would continue to grow.
