M K Kanimozhi, DMK's Rajya Sabha member and daughter former Tamilnadu chief minister and DMK chief M Karunanidhi, has been arrested after a CBI court dismissed her bail plea in the 2G spectrum scam case.

The court also declined bail to Sharad Kumar, MD and CEO of Kalaignar TV, the other co-accused.

The two were taken into custody immediately after the court rejected their bail petitions. They will be lodged in Delhi's Tihar jail, where the former telecom minister and the main accused in the 2G spectrum scam, A Raja, is also lodged.

Judge O P Saini, while ordering their "forthwith" arrest, has also directed the accused to appear before the special CBI court at 10 am on Saturday.

The CBI, which followed up an illegal money trail of Rs214 crore in the 2G spectrum scam, had, on 25 April, produced a supplementary charge sheet in which it had named Kanimozhi and Sharad Kumar as co-conspirators.

According to CBI, the Rs214 crore bribe was routed to Kalaignar TV through Shahid Usman Balwa's firm DB Realty.
