Iquara rebranded as You Telecom India after stake change

Chennai: The Surat-headquartered cable internet service provider is busy rebuilding its brand equity as YOU Telecom India Pvt Ltd. Starting from its name, the owners are now offering new services.

Formerly called Iqara Telecoms India Pvt Ltd, the company was promoted by British Gas group. Early this year, British Gas exited the telecom business selling majority stakes Citi Ventures Capital International. . The change in name and a new strategy soon followed the change in ownership.

As YOU Telecom India Pvt Ltd, the company has charted an aggressive path. Part of that strategy is YOU Multiplied, that is, launch of multiple services.

Says E V S Chakravarthy, CEO, YOU Telecom, "Having been in the business for quite some time, we want to tap the emerging opportunities and also unleash our new corporate brand."

According to him the company's new name reflects the organisation's customer focus.
"After offering cable net access and internet telephony, we are now offering gaming and broadband phone, the two areas having huge potential. Today we are in a position to take internet telephony to the masses."
