Mumbai: Online graduate business school, Universitas 21 Global, has been selected as a case study at the 2004 Computerworld honours programme for its use of information technology for the benefit of society. Universitas 21 Global has one of the largest percentages of enrolments from Indian students.

Craig Conway, president and CEO, PeopleSoft nominated Universitas 21 Global for a position on the online archive of the Computerworld honours programme and the permanent research collections of its affiliated Academic Council. The Universitas 21 Global case study will be featured in the online archive of the Computerworld honours programme, which can be accessed by more than 150 libraries, museums and universities internationally.

Universitas 21 Global was established in 2001 as the world's premier online graduate business school and offers a globally recognised MBA programme, which draws upon the best practice in education excellence. It is internationally accredited by the U21 pedagogica, an independent quality assurance body for curriculum standards. The programme delivers courses directly to corporate clients and individuals worldwide

Established in 1988, the Computerworld honours programme is an initiative between the leaders of the information technology industry and the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. Each year, chairmen and CEOs of the world's foremost information technology companies nominate innovators — individuals or institutions — for their leading role in the information technology revolution.

As a Computerworld honours laureate, Universitas 21 Global will now vie for the programmes' 21st Century Achievement Award in 'education and academia' category.

Receiving commemorative medal in recognition of service to society, Dr Mukesh Aghi, CEO, Universitas 21 Global said , "The gap caused by an inadequate supply of brick-and-mortar universities to meet the increasing demand for higher education, especially apparent in Asia and developing countries, is a critical one. We recognise this rapidly evolving phenomenon and the Universitas 21 Global business model has been built to fill this vacuum."

To help its students in India, Universitas 21 Global has recently tied-up with Zee Interactive Learning Systems Ltd (ZILS) and a leading Indian job portal www.naukri.com. Under the agreement, Zee Interactive Learning Centres will act as admission and academic counselling centres for Universitas 21 Global, while Naukri.com will be a placement partner and provide Universitas 21 Global students with relevant job opportunities.

Universitas 21 Global is a joint venture between Universitas 21, an international consortium of 16 universities and Thomson Learning, a provider of tailored learning solutions for individuals and business world-wide. (More information on Universitas 21 Global available at @ www.u21global.com)
