July auto sales continue on high growth path

The Auto industry continues on high growth path with domestic passenger car sales rose 37.95 per cent to 158,764 units in July compared to 115,084 units in the same month last year as customer outlook still remained robust on a strong economic growth.
The motorcycle sales rose by 30.09 per cent to 7,10,621 units compared to 5,46,233 units in the same month last year, according to figures released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
Total two-wheeler sales in July grew 30.41 per cent to 9,38,514 units from 7,19,656 units a year earlier, SIAM said.
Sales of commercial vehicles increased by 36.99 per cent to 51,481 units from 37,580 units in the year-ago.
The overall production data across categories for July showed growth of 31.50 per cent to 12,37,461 over same period last, it added.
Total sales of vehicles across categories registered a growth of 32.61 per cent to 5,570,394 vehicles for April-July 2010 over same period last year, according to SIAM.
