Auto Expo 2018 to feature electric two-wheelers from Hero, TVS, United Motorcycles, others

Judging by the number of companies including the likes of Hero Electric displaying their electric mobility solutions at Auto Expo 2018, the auto sector seems to be gearing up for the electric power train transition in a big way.

Hero will display its prototype AXHLE-20, a high-speed scooter, at the event along with two electric bicycles,The Financial Express reported. The AXHLE-20 is powerdby a 4kW motor that is capable of producing a peak 6kW. According to Hero, the electric scooter can attain a top speed of 85 km/h and will deliver a range of about 110 km on one charge.

Rushlane reports that TVS will showcase a new electric scooter called Proto and based on the spy pictures, TVS Proto will be a full-fledged premium electric scooter. Details of the battery, motor and performance have not been revealed, however, according to speculation, it will come with a digital instrument console, telescopic front forks, alloy wheels, tubeless tyres, and possibly an optional disc brake at the front.

Twenty Two Motors will launch its electric scooter Flow, at the Auto Expo 2018, integrating a number of smart features, priced Rs70,000.

Its portable battery will be capable of being charged with any five-ampere plug and will take a five hours to fully charge. The Flow has a range of 80km, which can be extended by leasing an additional battery from the company.

Meanwhile, United Motorcycles, which is best known for its Renegade series of cruisers, has announced that it will launch a new cruiser in the Indian market at the Auto Expo, of which it has released a teaser. The upcoming cruiser is named Renegade Thor.

The vehicle is being billed as India's first ever electric cruiser. Rajeev Mishra, CEO, UM Lohia Two Wheelers said, ''We are very excited to be a part of the Auto Expo 2018 and are confident that the visitors will be thrilled by the UM range of Motorcycles showcased at our stand. We will also be unveiling the world's first electric geared high- speed cruiser at the Auto Expo.''
