Rakesh Mohan appointed RBI deputy governor

New Delhi: Dr Rakesh Mohan, who quit as advisor to the finance minister in May 2002, will join the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) as deputy governor shortly.

The prime minister has cleared the proposal to appoint Mohan as successor to Dr Y V Reddy, who is moving to the International Monetary Fund as executive director in July 2002.
