Chennai: In order to cater to customer expectations and to survive in a competitive environment, Karur Vysya Bank () has switched over to the banking software major i-flexs Flexicube solutions. Earlier the bank was using the in-house software Gayathri, written in Cobol.

"After evaluating four solutions we zeroed in on Flexicube, as we found it most suited for our needs," says KVB director M K Srinivasan. "The bank will implement the solution in 200 branches in two years, in which period we will integrate our existing solutions with the new one. We are investing around Rs 50 crore on IT and Flexicube." The services will cost the bank around Rs 22 crore.

Says i-flex CEO (India operations) Deepak Ghaisas: "The product has around 100 customers and is the third largest-selling retail-banking solution. It has a multi-channel capability that enables real-time banking operations. The open architecture-based solution is scalable and the cost of ownership is low."
