Pune: The Pune-headquartered Bank of Maharashtra (BoM) has ventured into a technology upgradation programme that would enable it to provide better customer service and would eventually enlarge its client base.

Says BoM CMD S C Basu: The bank has decided to concentrate on automation to herald a mark in value-added and customer-centric services.

According to the plan, the bank would provide inter-branch connectivity at Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Nagpur in a span of one year. It already has this facility for its Pune branches.

The bank also plans to install 110 ATMs in a years time; presently, it has 13 ATMs functioning. The bank has a personalised branch at Worli, Mumbai, and has plans to set up more of such branches in the metropolis.

We also intend to nurture human resources, Basu says. The bank plans for a better deployment and distribution of its staff after the technology upgradation plans are once through. He expects to achieve a cumulative business volume of Rs 50,000 crore in two years. We also envisage a per-employee business volume of Rs 3.5 crore to Rs 4 crore in the next two years, which is more than double compared to the current level of Rs 1.67 crore.
