Tally Mela to educate on VAT news

Mumbai: Tally Solutions is hosting a series of ''Tally Melas'' across 10 cities around the country, in an effort educate the business community and individuals on VAT compliance and implementation. The melas, which will be held in Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Kochi, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Kolkata, will have senior chartered accountants and tax experts interacting with the public, addressing all concerns and doubts on VAT as well as Service Tax and TDS.

In Mumbai, the event will held at the Nehru Centre, Discovery of India and MMRDA Grounds (Opposite Citigroup Building) in Mumbai from March 25th to March 31st 2005. The mela will be used to demonstrate the simplicity with which VAT compliance processes can be adopted. The company will also take the opportunity to demonstrate VAT implementation and other accounting issues using Tally.

Tally''s president, Bharath Gopalakrishnan says, "The mela is an initiative by Tally Solutions to educate the public and provide access to experts in taxation and VAT-related issues, so that their doubts can be addressed as well as to assist them in planning for the new tax regime,"

Gopalakrishnan says Tally''s VAT-enabled software, version 7.2, of which over 350,000 copies have being shipped nation-wide since its launch on March 3rd, 2005, was developed exclusively to enable business accounting systems become VAT-compliant. It takes away all the complexity in tax modules like VAT, Service Tax and TDS, right down to the filing of statutory forms.

During the mela, visitors will also get to interact with chartered accountants to have their queries answered on issues relating to VAT in addition to answering TDS and Service Tax related queries. Members of trade associations, government bodies and management associations will also participate in the mela.
