Mumbai:
The World Economic Forum (WEF) is likely to consider holding a session in
Gujarat in future, state chief minister Narendra Modi said. "I
have invited the WEF to organise a conference in India and if possible in Gujarat,"
Modi said on the sidelines of the inaugural annual meeting of the New Champions
organised by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in China''s northeastern port city
of Dalian. "I
suggested to them that if it is not possible to arrange a large-scale conference,
it can be divided into two to three parts and on behalf of the WEF a big delegation
should visit Gujarat for wider interaction," he said. "They
have accepted my suggestions," Modi, who is leading a 25-member Gujarat government
delegation to the WEF, said. Modi,
who participated in a boardroom session on "Entrepreneurship: Why Culture
Matters" shared a unique perspective on entrepreneurship in an age of globalisation,
taking the WEF discussion on "Improving the state of the world to a new level".
"The new
world business acumen has to be based on the three sound pillars of ancient culture
- vision, mission and goals," he said. "A
society that values this ethos and which promotes commerce with culture, trade
with tradition and entrepreneurship with empathy is a society that will see its
people succeed in any endeavour," he added. Modi
will inaugurate Gujarat booth and address a gathering of Indian community. Besides
members of the industry Modi is accompanied by additional chief secretary D Rajgopalan,
principal secretary K Kailashnathan, industries commissioner Gauri Kumar and industries
secretary Atanu Chakraborty.
