Mumbai:
A new global survey ranks the island city of Mumbai among
the 10 most expensive cities in the world based on the
cost of accommodation. The survey by International Human
Resources International, ECA, ranked Mumbai as the seventh
most expensive cities to live in.
In
December last year, the ECA international had ranked Mumbai
at 26th position in Asia, just below Bangkok and just
below Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.
Hong
Kong, Tokyo and New York ranked amass the most expensive
cities in the world to live in followed by Moscow, Seoul,
London, Mumbai, Shanghai, Caracas (Venezuela) and Paris
in order of the expense involved in living there.
According
to Lee Quane, general manager, ECA International Hong
Kong, ''''High rentals in Tokyo, New York, Seoul, Moscow,
London and Paris largely reflect high living costs in
these locations, while Mumbai, Shanghai and Beijing suffer
from a shortage of modern and well equipped properties,
pushing prices up for those properties,''''
However,
Caracas, the capital of Venezuela has also broken into
the list, holding tenth position in the survey.
