Canada beckons skilled workersnews

Chennai: The year 2007 is going to be a great year for skilled workers in India and several countries of Asia- Pacific region as Canada has thrown its doors open to them. The country has decided to issue one lakh worker visas for skilled labourers. And Indians are already queuing up to emigrate.

According to the chairman and managing director, Lt.Col. (Retd.) B S Sandhu, World Wide Immigration and Consultancy Services, the company has received over 1,000 applications for processing.

Skilled workers - truck drivers, construction workers, hospitality workers, carpenters, mechanical trade workers and general labourers- will get their visas faster, he said. India that superseded China as the largest exporter of workforce to Canada in 2006 is likely to see further growth this year.
