Finance ministry to revise 2006-07 budget estimatesnews

New Delhi: The ministry of finance has got down to work revising the estimates contained in union Budget 2006-07 and preparing the estimates for the next year''s budget.

The department of economic affairs has sent out a circular to various ministries and departments seeking information on estimates of the revenue receipts from the various central and state organisations under their charge by Division by November 30.

The last date for sending capital receipt including public accounts transactions is October 26.

The estimates of expenditure of the ministries and their departments are required to be made in a phased manner.

The ministry has proposed a mandatory 5-per cent cut on non-plan expenditure for all ministries and departments — excluding interest payment, repayment of debt, defence capital, salaries, pension and finance commission grants to states.

The ministry will also ask for gender budgeting to measure outlays and reach to benefit women for their empowerment, as stipulated in the National Common Minimum Programme.
