Finance minister P Chidambaram has announced 300 km of road projects in 2013-14 in various states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh.
Chidambaram also said in his Budget speech for 2013-14 that committees will be set up to fast-track new projects and even those that are stalled due to technical reasons.
He said finance will be available at a lower cost, which will ease the interest burden for the infrastructure sector.
He added a regulatory body will be set up to clear pending disputes related to land acquisitions and environmental hurdles. The regulator will also address various issues faced by developer and also review NHAI performance and policies.
