Kharif crop sowing registers shortfall over last year

The total kharif crop sown area rgistered a shortfall of 12.45 lakh hectares till the week ended 22 June 2018 over last year's figure of 128.35 million hectares for the same period.
According to reports received from the states as on 22nd June 2018, the total sown area stands at 115.90 lakh hectare.
Rice has been sown / transplanted in 10.67 lakh hectares, pulses in 5.91 lakh hectarres, coarse cereals in 16.69 lakh hectares, sugarcane in 50.01 lakh hectares and cotton in 20.68 lakh hectares.
