Rice buffer stock rises to 10.62 million tonnes

Mumbai: The country''s rice buffer stock stood at 10.62 million tonnes as of 1 November against minimum buffer stocking norm of 5.2 million tonnes on October 1, figures released by the Food Corporation of India (FCI) showed.

The total wheat buffer stock stood at 9.03 million tonnes as of November 1 against a minimum buffer stocking norm of 11 million tonnes on October 1.

The government fixes the quantity for minimum buffer stocking for each quarter to ensure adequate supply of foodgrains.
